Bedford Test Centre

The driving test centre in Bedford will close on 22nd October 2012, with tests then being taken from the training facility at Cardington. This quashes speculation that other sites will be used in this area. A step towards saving money, as this venue is expected to continue to train examiners even in the event of the practical test being privatised.
The Post Office is expected to be the site for theory tests, the contract will continue to be tendered in the same way, but with Government committment to protecting the Post Office for at least the next ten years, having 500 branches prepared with onsite theory testing facilities helps keep these sites active. This work has already begun and is a good move for helping businesses in this time of recession.
