Haulier Charges
The consultation is about to close on the charges for HGV's over 12 tonnes in the UK. Put forward on the consultation as a fairer way for road usage, with our drivers paying a daily rate in the EU. However, how does that impact on the UK? Is this going to be a more coins in the pot exercise? Or is this to help with road upkeep, as sugested in the EU document relating to tolls and payments?
The Government are looking to charge all hauliers over 12 tonnes with an annual fee, the heavier the lorry the more they pay, harsh for the lone driver on contracts. Expensive for companies with a large fleet.
