Badges on display

Is the displaying of badges really that important on test day? There can be many reasons for removing a badge before test, and often it has nothing to do with pupil standard. Do you leave it in? Do you think it should be left in as a requirement, and is the thoughts of the DSA, that leaving the badge in on test day may be compulsory, the first step towards compulsory driving hours with an ADI, and the bandied about thought that all cars going to test should be fitted with dual controls for an L test the reason behind it?
